"Shusha from the Perspective of Malaysia"


An art exhibition was organized with the financial support of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as part of the "Shusha from the Perspective of Malaysia" project, implemented in partnership with Sonmaz Mashall Cultural Relations Public Union, the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Malaysia, and the Azerbaijan State Art Gallery.

The exhibition features about 30 paintings by Azerbaijani artists on the theme of Shusha. Held at the City Art Gallery of Kuala Lumpur, the event was opened by Maizon Omar, Director of the gallery. Elsever Salmanov, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Malaysia, also spoke at the opening ceremony, emphasizing Shusha's significance as a beloved historical and cultural center for Azerbaijanis. Shahla Naghiyeva, Chairperson of the Sonmaz Mashall Cultural Relations Public Union, provided details about the exhibition and upcoming events scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur.

Following the opening ceremony, musical performances themed around Shusha and Garabagh were presented. Young singer Zeynab Najafova performed popular songs such as " Garabagh," "Shusham," "The Mountains of Shusha," " Garabagh Song," and "Jennatim Garabagh ."Malaysian singer Royce Saayan’s performance of "Jennatim Karabakh" and his duet with Zeynab Najafova on "The Mountains of Shusha," were met with applause from the audience.

At the close of the event, Aybeniz Ismayilova, originally from Shusha and an expert in Shusha cuisine, treated the guests to samples of Shusha and Garabagh cuisine. Dishes such as "Dill Plov," " Plov with Giyme," "Janina Deyme," "Plov with girkhbugum," along with Garabagh and Azerbaijani sweets, were served to the participants.

Guests were also presented with booklets, including "Shusha, the Cultural Capital of Azerbaijan," " Garabagh," and the "Shusha Monuments" collection, which were prepared in several languages by researcher-journalist Vasif Guliyev.

The event concluded with the distribution of booklets entitled "Songs about Shusha and Garabagh," along with detailing the preparation of Shusha cuisine in Azerbaijani and English to the participants.
